چکیده

The objective of this paper is to investigate the space-time frequency spectra for cavitating flows in a mixed-flow pump by using both fast Fourier transform and wavelet transform. Unsteady are numerically investigated Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes method, which closured with SST k-ω turbulence model Zwart cavitation model. performance fairly predicted when compared available experimental data. There two stages unsteady evolution during one impeller rotating cycle, including cavity growth stage diminution stage. characterized spatial non-uniform distribution since high-pressure region presents at inlet plane. pressure amplitude decreases becomes severer smaller operating velocity. Besides, dominant (fn), i.e. frequency. Due rotor-stator interaction from six-blade impeller, there long-term 6fn intake duct diffuser inlet. Furthermore, broadband low-frequency around 1.5fn exhibits near exit, varies over time corresponding different corner-vortex dynamics. Therefore, analysis more favorable practical method obtain time-dependent information flows.

A Numerical Investigation of Unsteady Bubbly Cavitating Nozzle Flows

The effects of unsteady bubble dynamics on cavitating flow through a converging-diverging nozzle are investigated numerically. A continuum model that couples the Rayleigh–Plesset equation with the continuity and momentum equations is used to formulate unsteady, quasi-one-dimensional partial differential equations. Flow regimes studied include those where steady-state solutions exist, and those ...

Direct Calculations of Cavitating Flows in Fuel Delivery Pipe by the Space-Time CE/SE Method

In this paper, we report direct calculations of cavitating pipe flows by the method of Space-Time Conservation Element and Solution Element, or the CE/SE method for short. The tenet of the CE/SE method is treating space and time as one entity, and the calculation of flow properties is based on the local and global space-time flux conservation. As a contrast to the modern upwind schemes, no Riem...

Numerical Simulation of Cavitation in Mixed Flow Pump

The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance and three-dimensional behavior of the flow in a mixed flow pump and the way cavitation phenomenon is affected by different parameters such as fluid temperature, pump speed and flow rate. Computational fluid dynamic software FLUENT 6.3 was utilized to simulate the whole flow field of the pump. RNG k-ε model combined with standard wall f...

Direct Calculations of Cavitating Flows by the Space-Time CE/SE Method

This paper reports oneand two-dimensional simulations of cavitating flows by the Space-Time Conservation Element and Solution Element (CE/SE) method. A continuum cavitation model based on specifying the speed of sound of two-phase flows is employed. The CE/SE method is a viable CFD method for flows at wide range of Mach numbers. The method is explicit and is suitable for time accurate simulatio...
